Power

Power = Strength x Speed  or Power = (Force x Distance)/Time

The athlete who can apply the most force in the shortest time is considered the most powerful.  Most athletic movements take place in 0.1 to 0.2 seconds.  An athlete can be very strong but be unable to apply strength rapidly and therefore lack explosive power.

Traditional strength training only focuses on the first half of the equations; the purpose of power training is to reduce the amount of time it takes to apply a set amount of force.  At Alpine Fitness, we utilize the four types of power training; Heavy, Explosive, Ballistics, and Plyometrics to make you more POWERFUL.  The type of power training must be specific to the sport or event; we tailor your training to your specific sports goals.
