Don’t feel stressed, feel blessed!

We are officially in the holiday season.  Is it already that time again? We know this time of the year is an exciting time for family, friends, and especially the retail stores! It is a very busy time of the year and we know that one thing that kicks in for most of us is STRESS! After doing some reading and pondering, the following are a few pointers on how to avoid stress during this holiday season.

First off, Be Realistic. A lot of times people think that this season has to be perfect. The food, presents, parties, etc. You have to realize that nothing is going to be perfect and that you need to enjoy it how it is going to be. Sometimes it isn’t going to be the same as last year, but the next year could be better. Find new ways to adapt and adjust to your current circumstances. Second, Stick to a Budget. Make sure you know how much you will spend for the holidays and stick to it! Don’t buy a ton of gifts to try and make up happiness. Make sure to have enough money for the New Year! Third, Plan Ahead. Set aside days that you will go shopping, holiday parties, family events, etc. Plan these well in advance, so you don’t scramble at the last minute. Don’t be those last minute shoppers on Christmas Eve!

Fourth, Don’t Abandon Healthy Habits. It’s a great time of the year to give up and indulge in all the great food. Overindulgence only adds to your stress and guilt. Try and eat a healthy snack before parties, so you don’t go overboard on the goodies and incorporate regular physical activity into each day. Lastly, Take a Breather and Enjoy. You have to make sure to enjoy and take in this time of the year. Kick back and watch a movie or listen to some Christmas music. Find ways to relax and spend time with your loved ones. Besides feeling stressed during this time of the year, you should feel blessed!
