Everyone knows working out can feel impossible at times. Getting to the gym on a regular basis is challenging. With all of the distractions available to us today there are a lot of reasons to skip leg day.

What if there was a way that would improve your odds of going to the gym? AND ensure that you would keep those healthy habits long after?

Multiple studies show that working out with a buddy, creating a community at the gym, will increase your odds of success.

1. Personal Training Will Help You Create or Maintain a Change in Behavior

According to a study that was published in the National Institute of Health, those who worked out with a personal trainer were able to drastically improve their likelihood to workout and maintain their current routines.

This study also found that the effectiveness of working out with a personal trainer “was consistent across gender and all age groups”.

2. Studies show that overweight people lose more when working out with a buddy.

A study published in the Obesity journal showed that people who were considered overweight lose more weight when they spend time with fit friends. It also showed the more time they spent together equaled more lost weight.

It’s true- you are who you hang out with!

3. Working out with a buddy influences workout intensity

In one study, of fifty-eight females who worked out with a partner, exercised significantly longer than those who did not work out with a partner. Having a support group around you can mean better, longer exercises!

4. Working out with a buddy in a group can help you feel good

Researchers found that those who did at least a half hour of high-intensity training felt an increase in endorphin release (the feel-good chemicals in your brain). Those who did a less intense workout did not have as high of an endorphin release.

From these studies, we know that friends equal good times! Make the most of your health by working out with someone. You will build a healthier body and priceless memories!
